Chrome on iPhone / iPad Privacy Settings

Review Chrome on iPhone / iPad privacy settings step by step, with official documentation, compatibility tradeoffs, and instructions for undoing changes.

These are iPhone and iPad app instructions. These editions normally use WebKit, but they have different privacy features and menus from Safari and from their desktop editions. Desk cannot verify the engine. Apple permits alternative engines in some regions. Safari settings do not configure every other browser app.

Keep Safe Browsing enabled

Chrome → More (…) → Settings → Privacy and security → Safe Browsing

  1. Open Safe Browsing.
  2. Keep at least Standard protection.
  3. Read the data-sharing explanation before choosing Enhanced protection.

This warns about dangerous websites. Enhanced protection sends additional browsing information to Google; it is not a tracker blocker.

To undo: Return to Standard protection; avoid No protection.

Remove old website data deliberately

Chrome → More (…) → Settings → Privacy and security → Delete Browsing Data

  1. Choose Cookies, Site Data.
  2. Uncheck other categories you want to keep.
  3. Confirm only if you are ready to lose site sign-ins and saved site preferences.

Clears stored cookies; this does not switch on a desktop-style third-party-cookie blocker. It can erase Desk progress.

To undo: Deletion cannot be undone. Sign in again and restore any exported Desk progress if needed.

Review access to your device

iPhone/iPad Settings → Privacy & Security

  1. Open the device Settings app, then Privacy & Security.
  2. Review Camera, Microphone, and Location Services; find Chrome where listed.
  3. Remove access you do not need. Also review the app’s own website permissions.

Device permissions apply to the browser app, potentially affecting every website in it. They are separate from site permissions.

To undo: Return here to restore access when you need it. A website may also need permission inside the browser.
