Brave on iPhone / iPad Privacy Settings

Review Brave on iPhone / iPad privacy settings step by step, with official documentation, compatibility tradeoffs, and instructions for undoing changes.

These are iPhone and iPad app instructions. These editions normally use WebKit, but they have different privacy features and menus from Safari and from their desktop editions. Desk cannot verify the engine. Apple permits alternative engines in some regions. Safari settings do not configure every other browser app.

Review Shields defaults

Brave → Menu → All Settings → Shields & Privacy

  1. Open Shields & Privacy from All Settings.
  2. Review the global defaults and keep Shields protections enabled.
  3. Test a familiar site, then use its lion icon to review any site exception.

Shields can reduce tracking on iOS. Existing per-site choices are not replaced when you change global defaults.

To undo: Restore the previous global choice or review that site’s exception.

Keep popup and dangerous-site protection

Brave → Menu → All Settings → Shields & Privacy

  1. Find Block Popups and leave it on.
  2. Keep Block Dangerous Websites on.
  3. Review Private Browsing Only if you prefer opening private tabs.

These are useful iOS app controls. Private tabs do not provide network anonymity.

To undo: Restore your previous choices in this menu.

Review access to your device

iPhone/iPad Settings → Privacy & Security

  1. Open the device Settings app, then Privacy & Security.
  2. Review Camera, Microphone, and Location Services; find Brave where listed.
  3. Remove access you do not need. Also review the app’s own website permissions.

Device permissions apply to the browser app, potentially affecting every website in it. They are separate from site permissions.

To undo: Return here to restore access when you need it. A website may also need permission inside the browser.
