Firefox on iPhone / iPad Privacy Settings

Review Firefox on iPhone / iPad privacy settings step by step, with official documentation, compatibility tradeoffs, and instructions for undoing changes.

These are iPhone and iPad app instructions. These editions normally use WebKit, but they have different privacy features and menus from Safari and from their desktop editions. Desk cannot verify the engine. Apple permits alternative engines in some regions. Safari settings do not configure every other browser app.

Keep Enhanced Tracking Protection on

Firefox → Menu → Settings → Tracking Protection

  1. Tap the Firefox menu, then Settings.
  2. Open Tracking Protection and keep Enhanced Tracking Protection enabled.
  3. Review Standard and Strict. Strict blocks more content but can break parts of a site.

Firefox adds its own tracker blocking. This is separate from Apple’s device-level tracking controls.

To undo: Return to Standard, or use the shield for a specific site.

Check a site before weakening protection

Firefox → Address bar → Shield

  1. Open a familiar website and tap the shield beside its address.
  2. Review the protection state and tracker information.
  3. If necessary, adjust protection for this website and test it again.

Site exceptions can troubleshoot breakage while keeping protection on elsewhere.

To undo: Turn protection back on from the same shield.

Review access to your device

iPhone/iPad Settings → Privacy & Security

  1. Open the device Settings app, then Privacy & Security.
  2. Review Camera, Microphone, and Location Services; find Firefox where listed.
  3. Remove access you do not need. Also review the app’s own website permissions.

Device permissions apply to the browser app, potentially affecting every website in it. They are separate from site permissions.

To undo: Return here to restore access when you need it. A website may also need permission inside the browser.
