Edge on iPhone / iPad Privacy Settings

Review Edge on iPhone / iPad privacy settings step by step, with official documentation, compatibility tradeoffs, and instructions for undoing changes.

These are iPhone and iPad app instructions. These editions normally use WebKit, but they have different privacy features and menus from Safari and from their desktop editions. Desk cannot verify the engine. Apple permits alternative engines in some regions. Safari settings do not configure every other browser app.

Review mobile content blocking

Edge → Menu (…) → Settings → Privacy and security → Content blockers

  1. Open Privacy and security from the menu’s Settings.
  2. Open Content blockers, where available, and review its blocking switch.
  3. Enable blocking if it fits your needs, then test a familiar site.

Reduces supported unwanted content. Availability and labels vary with the app version.

To undo: Return to Content blockers to restore the previous choice.

Understand InPrivate tabs

Edge → Tab switcher → InPrivate

  1. Open the tab switcher and choose InPrivate.
  2. Use this for a session you do not want in ordinary local history.
  3. Close its tabs when you finish.

InPrivate does not save the same local history and form data. It does not hide activity from websites or your network.

To undo: Return to ordinary tabs for your usual session. Closed private-session data is not recoverable.

Review access to your device

iPhone/iPad Settings → Privacy & Security

  1. Open the device Settings app, then Privacy & Security.
  2. Review Camera, Microphone, and Location Services; find Edge where listed.
  3. Remove access you do not need. Also review the app’s own website permissions.

Device permissions apply to the browser app, potentially affecting every website in it. They are separate from site permissions.

To undo: Return here to restore access when you need it. A website may also need permission inside the browser.
